Tours and investigations

Explore South Carolina's first paranormal museum in Charleston, housing authentic haunted vessels. Choose between self-guided daytime exploration or an immersive after-dark paranormal investigation.

Choose your paranormal experience

Whether you want to learn the history of our resident spirits at your own pace or hold real ghost-hunting gear in the dark, Dearly Departed offers distinct ways to encounter the unexplained.

Daytime self-guided tour

Walk through our curated rooms at your own rhythm. Learn the historical accounts behind our haunted vessels and experience subtle spiritual interaction during regular museum hours.

Nightly paranormal investigation

A hands-on, two-hour nighttime ghost hunt. The museum lights go dark and equipment comes out immediately. Limited strictly to small groups of six for an intense, direct experience.

The sinister room encounters

Face our most active entities up close, including the demonic Nameless One, the Civil War battlefield bone saw, and Richard the notorious doll. Prepare for unmistakable energy.

What will you experience inside?

Charleston holds centuries of ghostly lore, but Dearly Departed is the only location bringing hundreds of active, documented haunted objects together under one roof.

Daytime walks: stories behind the vessels

Daytime walk-in tours are perfect for guests who want to get to know our resident entities. As you navigate the gallery, you will uncover the dark provenance of items like the authentic battlefield amputation saw—complete with bent teeth and preserved hair—and listen to accounts of spiritual interactions documented by staff and researchers.

Night investigations: hands-on ghost hunting

Every night, we dim the lights for an intensive two-hour ghost hunting investigation. Guests receive professional paranormal detection equipment to track energy, temperature, and audio anomalies throughout the building—or you are welcome to bring your own gear. Because spots are capped at six people per evening to ensure intimate contact, advance reservation is mandatory. Please note that adult supervision is required for participants aged 15 and under.
